About the Doctor

Professor Farhana Sharif is a Consultant Paediatrician at Mullingar Regional Hospital with a specialist interest in Developmental Paediatrics and Early Intervention. She is Clinical Lead for Children’s Disability Network Teams (CDNT) in Longford/Westmeath and has played a key role in establishing integrated early intervention services that have significantly improved care pathways for children with developmental needs. Professor Sharif graduated from Aga Khan University and completed her paediatric residency at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, Missouri, USA. She also holds a Master’s degree in Child Health from the University of Warwick. An accomplished academic, she is a Clinical Professor of Paediatrics at RCSI, Clinical Associate Professor at UCD, and is affiliated with Maastricht University. She has published over 70 peer-reviewed papers and is widely recognised for her contributions to child development, early screening for developmental delay, and innovative models of care in child mental health. Her broader interests include health promotion, breastfeeding advocacy, FASD awareness, and infant mental health. She is also an award-winning clinical educator and a passionate advocate for improving outcomes in paediatric care.
