Dr. Alan Wilson

Dr. Alan Wilson is a Consultant Gastroenterologist with over 15 years of experience in the diagnosis and management of digestive disorders. His clinical interests include inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), coeliac disease, liver disease, reflux, and the investigation of unexplained abdominal pain and gastrointestinal bleeding. He completed specialist training in Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine before undertaking advanced endoscopy training, developing expertise in gastroscopy, colonoscopy, and the diagnosis of complex gastrointestinal conditions. Dr. Wilson has a particular interest in early detection of bowel cancer and improving patient access to timely specialist assessment. Dr. Wilson is committed to delivering evidence-based, patient-centred care, taking time to ensure that patients understand their diagnosis, treatment options, and long-term management plans. He believes in working closely with GPs and multidisciplinary teams to provide seamless, coordinated care. Alongside his clinical practice, Dr. Wilson has been involved in teaching junior doctors and medical students and has participated in quality improvement initiatives focused on enhancing endoscopy services and patient outcomes.
